The initiatives I would like to bring attention to:
As a Tech Transfer office, we serve the BIUST community by managing intellectual property, facilitating industry collaborations and developing commercialization strategies. BIUST has an approved IP policy. We are in the process of approving the IP guidelines and Consultancy and Private Work guidelines. We hold seminars/webinars for our researchers as a way of building capacity towards research that addresses real-world problems to foster economic growth and maximize the societal impact of our research. BIUST has a patent for the Method and System of Sorting Diamonds. The Principal Inventor of this invention is Prof. Adamu Murtala Zungeru, SMIEEE. We celebrate his success and are looking forward to commercializing this invention. As we all know Botswana is a diamond country and this speaks to the core of who we are as a country. Transformational Leadership means inspiring and motivating your team to achieve their full potential. A compelling vision alone is not enough. One needs to inspire and empower others by promoting creativity and innovation. You need a team to win.
